I'm jealous of some of you guys. The wives of my buddies sit together all day at the lake and socialize. They love being by the water. When we come in, there is good conversation and beverages. However, my (no ex-) wife hated the water. Didn't like socializing with the other beach babes...hated kiting...bad choice of spouses on my part. Anyway, sure love being with the kite crew.

Got with the missus a few years after getting into Kiting and she loves it as long as it’s controllable. Controllable in the sense she isn’t cool with being blown off the beach. So I had to sort that out.
We’ve recently had twin girls that has curbed the amount of kiting I’ve done this year and also have a 13yr old girl as well.
The flip side is we’ve just bought a VW T5 to cater for us all. If it’s a bit too windy on the beach they can go set up in the Van. We’re also now renting apartments, houses within walking distance to the beach for less hassle.
She enjoys the outdoors, wildness of it all and if anything it’s taken us off to some cool places, met some great people and I get a free week in the year to get off wherever, so this year it’s Cumbuco, Brazil for me to catch up with a mate.
I want my kids to grow up with the outdoors inside them and I don’t get people who get into relationships and stop doing the things that makes them tick. I can understand if I was getting blasted every weekend in clubs and pubs or away with the lads in Ibiza but kiting….. seriously. The outdoors, by the sea, bbq, few beers, what’s not to like about that.

So I am the guy that started the other post about the Nemesis manual with bikinis on it. Actually, my wife is very supportive of my need to kite, but today in the first session on the kite in question I got a huge panel rip.
She just walked in the door and I am about to tell her about it. You can bet she is going to BUST MY BALLS about breaking my new toy right out of the box.
Guess I deserve it. Laugh with me / at me. Something good needs to come from this.

My wife hates the beach, wind and sand, But, she is really supportive about me going, as she knows I love it and that it re energises me. Whenever she sees me looking at boards or kites, she always says "buy it if you want it", and to top it all off, I was fortunate to retire really early this year, she bought me a pick up truck with a kitesurfing personalised number plate as a present!
To the guy who got divorced/separated, I did 9 yrs ago and don't worry, things get better. You will find someone who makes and let's you live life to the full and it'll all become a distant memory. The first year is tough but there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Incredible words of wisdom! I had been doing it un-knowingly but now I will excel on purpose! Thanks for sharing this tip mate, you are one clever guy!
