Best waist harness?

Postby NEkitesurfing » Tue Sep 25, 2012 10:47 am

The best waist harness for me is the Dakine Renegade because it doesn't cause rashes, has a good back support with a lumbar pad and the right flexibility gives me the freedom of movements I want to have. The Dakine harnesses are very durable too. Because of a good 3D shape there are no wrinkles at all inside the harness when it is closed.
I don't like the power clip lock buckle system because it could be easier to open, close and adjust.

Which harness is better than the renegade, easier to adjust and comes with an adjustable lumbar pad and offers a wrinkle free fit?

Anybody tried on of the new Prolimit Harnesses? Their quick release system is really nice.

It makes no sense to recommend any harness to others, as it is solely a personal thing what fits YOU !

Sooo individual that words can not describe this - and you can only try the harness in the store to see if it seems okay for you, and first after many hours on the water - will you know if it will work or not (NOT possible to know in the store - even if hanging in a line).

So all the "details" you ask for, are IMO only subtle details - compared to how the harness works for you, and only you.

A topic covered often - as many want to know what the best harness is - and there is no such thing, because we are physically so different every single one of us

The details can be discussed yes - but not how well it fits nor how comfortable it is :-?

Hi Peter and mdmaui,

I want to talk more about construction details and durability. For sure the fit is a very personal thing.

For eg I found the Prolimit Hadlow Harness to soft and not very durable but the pin release spreader bar was very nice. The north air styler was ok,especially the inflatable lumbar pad is nice but it was not very durable. A Mystik I had was not made for my body caused me rashes and was not very durable too. The plastic parts were coming off.

The Dakine Renegade could be easier to adjust and I would like to have more color options.

Easier to adjust? You just clip the spreader bar in and tighten the straps on one side, how could it be easier than that?

I have the renegade and really like it also, mystic shadow is ok also but it's very abrasive, I had to wear a tshirt under it every time I rode (and it was already broken in) so I got rid of it and went back to my renegade. If I got another harness today it would probably be a liquid force comp, they're really comfortable and don't have all the safety crap on them that I can't stand

I bought a prolimits harness about 4 years ago and it was the nicest harness I have used. Well built, but also soft and comfortable and with a good release. But they stopped making that model so I ended up buying another one 2 years ago which is horrible. Not sure what the new ones are like.
Dakines I think are great harnesses but agree with the straps and things being a slight pain.
The North ones are also good, they are simple and do the job they are made for.
The mystics I cannot understand why they are so popular they seem to be equipped with miniature razor blades that cut your flesh within minutes......
