So, I got a ride on a 2012 Slingshot Misfit, and would like some feedback from others about it.
Pretty cool that Slingshot is making their twintips 100% in-house and from materials sources very close to the plant---very green---and very cool!
I think they are very good looking boards as well.
The Misfit is flatter than anything I've ridden in some time.
Found the Misfit tips to be stiffer tipped than my Shinn Monk.
The Misfit flex came more from the middle of the board and not the channeled tips.
Went upwind well, did not blow through chop as well as a Monk, but I would say very few boards do.
Loaded very well for hooked jumping ...which is what this old man does.
How does the new 2013 Asylum compare to the Misfit?
...anybody been on both?

I m with you oldnbroken. Would love a bit of info about these boards. Which one is meant to be the lunacy replacement? Is there a lunacy replacement? Bought the latest slingshot pads+straps the other day. Still adjusting to them. Not a perfect fit yet......not sure about the joint though mate - they definitely look a bit dodge!

I had a misfits, 132 and 142. Nice boards. Was very impressed with 142 freestyle low and high end.
What about face spraing - i think this is due to the a little bit another stance, that misfit requires. I had no problems with it.
Nice pop in any conditions and smooth landings.

Did you use Misfit 2012 model year? or an earlier year?
I tried 136cm Misfit 2012, nice looking orange with the tree graphic.

i had a 146 misfit 2012, then the shinn's ruined it for me, after i got back on the misfit i noticed the bounce and constant spray in the face....changed the fins, stance, no fins everything!!....one thing i miss about the misfit though is the upwind ability, it was superior, especially when it was light...but the spray in the face killed it...i sometimes miss it, because it was such a good feeling board and got me upwind like no other board
when the water was really choppy it would hurt my knees after a couple of hours, but it was pretty good cutting through the chop...not as good as a shinn, but you know that
it was heavy, but was a tank, there is a video somewhere on the internet of a forklift lifting a misfit with a several hundred lbs somewhere and it comes out without a scratch, i weighed it at 10 lbs with everything, theres no doubt that the board would outlive me, kind of scary in the waves body dragging watching out for that thing to split your head open
i often wonder if i would have worn the board down more and more if it would have gotten a little flexier at the tips....

I believe the Asylum is the new wakestyle board... not something you'd really want to ride with straps, with all that rocker

How much rocker on the Asylum? ......More than the Mayhem of 2012?
....think it's less rocker than 2012 Mayhem, and the tips are wider than the Mayhem.
Looks like the Asylum is the "fix" for the Mayhem, ..the Mayhem did not go over well, obviously.
Clearly more rocker on Asylum than the Misfit, but the Misfit is flat compared to lots of boards.

There is more rocker on the Asylum than the Mayhem, and its a little softer, but it 100% works with straps if you wish. and NO face spraying.
