Kitesurfing Thailand and Vietnam

Postby crlkiter » Mon Oct 01, 2012 10:27 pm

I am looking to go on a kite trip to Thailand or Vietnam during the month of Feb. I hear that Thailand can be fickle, but Mui Ne is more consistent. Anyone been there before? Any suggestions? I am looking for like mid 20's for wind and some flat water spots.
Thanks

Definately Mui Ne! January is the golden month with wind every day but last February there were about 5 days non kiteable. Vietnam is cheaper, stronger winds, (18-30knots) and more of a beach vibe than Hua Hin. Theres also your choice of locations to ride, ie. wave spots, flat water, or the classic and most popular washing machine chop of the main beach. You also wont get all the jellyfish that are famous in Thailand. Its really a no brainer unless you would rather be in Thailand for other travels at the same time.
Look me up if you get there and we'll check out some secret spots. Steven from BC

Only way Hua Hin will be good is if you are 50 kilograms or less and want to be not powered so you can do raley's and other unhooked stuff of that nature. Otherwise it's a bore. It's a really weak thermal affect good for women and small asian men.

Mui Ne is cheap once you get there. Wind is much much better.
