Bondurant has been saved!

Postby knewschool » Fri Oct 05, 2012 6:14 pm

I'm not sure if you remember a few months ago I was reaching out to anyone who would help with a petition to stop over 150 gas wells from being drilled right in our snowkite spot at Bondurant. Well it payed off! Thanks for everyone's help.

:thumb: Amazing! Great to see that we can still save some great places in this day and age. Too bad it costs millions of $ to do it. I wish we had those kind of resources here in WVa. Keep up the good work! Mother Nature is gonna think kind of you. JR

I have seen this video a few times and have a question of curiosity. Are you launching into a thermal or just winds riding up the ridge?

It's a combination of ridge lift and gliding down the hill from the top. You can actually fly all the way from the very top of the hill out to the flats at the bottom with no wind. At the end of the day as the wind is dying, usually Wayne is at the top doing 10 loops in 5mph just to get the last 5 feet to the top then he'll fly off with almost no wind and when he lands his kite falls down without a puff of wind. The last scene in this video is exactly that.

You'll see everyone standing around with out a lick of wind while he fly's over us. It's soooo fun!
