Is this true?
That is awesome if it is true. Do you have any link to more about this?
Is this only in the US? My bags have been opened a lot of times especially in Asia , but they dont even care whats inside as long as its the correct size abd weight

I fly always with my bag. No one has ever opened it in Europe, Asia, Africa, or N. America. I always lie about it. They ask me if there is anything else besides golf equipment. I lie and say yes. They squeeze it and say, "This feels like a board." I lie and say "no."

I was wondering about putting board in a box and say its my boogie board ?! May work?!
I usually travel with my NSI golf bag w out a problem. But I was leaving Maui and guy at counter hit me with a large Surf board fee, I swore I wold never fly Delta. The guy put on a show about how he wouldn't even let Naish get away with ot paying. Lucky me I found the assh...
Anyway trying to get creative to avoid the fee, delta has good flights to Maui, I usually do American and theybr cool.
What you guys think. Wrap board w boogie board and box it up?
I usually put kites in suitcases and tried renting in Maui but selection not good

I think the only renaming 100% guarantee solution is to use a travel / foldable board. Does anyone ever tested this one :

Even if your quote may be true, ticket agents can still ask
you to open your bag...if you refuse, they can refuse to take your bag...I'd suggest either rent a board where your going or be ready to pony-up some cash at the ticket counter.
Read the airline's policy regarding damage to sporting equipment, which basically states that the airline is not responsible to any damage to sporting equipment unless it is packed in a hard-shell case. So even if you pay the extra charge, if your board gets damaged...its your loss.
So it may be cheaper and less stressful to just rent at your destination.

I've used my kite golf bag on about four trips so far and not busted but I only travel about once per year. I've once been asked whats in the bag and I replied with some kites and skis. Just don't mention the word board. Twice I dressed more convincingly and wore a golf shirt and golf peak cap and no questions asked. Once even mentioned to the check in lady how I can't wait to t off at my destination.
