Anyone got a tip on how to stop loads of water gettng trapped in your wetsuit above the ankles? I'm pretty sure the water is gettting blasted up from below as it's a pretty sealed new suit.

Cut some drain holes in so the water can drain out.

Read on a forum about a month ago and tried it and it works beautifully!

Use a soldering iron and with the flat tip vertical I came up about 3" on back side of leg and with hot iron pushed it through the suit and back out. This seals the neoprene from running or splitting. It puts about a 1/2 " split that is closed except when water gets in. I have not had the problem since and no issues with getting cold.

I can second the idea of a hole in the lower leg at the back, it can be very small (much less than 0.5 of an inch) and works well, any influx of water is not noticable. Taping the wetsuit tight to the ankle instead works for a while but just tansfers the problem, when/if you get flushed the water cannot get out. The taping solution probably works fine if you are just mowing the lawn.

Cut them off about halfway between your calf muscle and they will never fill again. If the water you kite in is extremely cold then this may not be an option for you. I cut my suit this way and it works perfectly but then again the coldest the water temp gets where I kite is the low 50s.
