Kahului, Hawaii – October 13, 2012: Next up on the KSP world championship tour schedule is Europe’s secret kite surfing jewel and home to some of the planet’s biggest surf, Ireland. Kicking off in less than a week and running from October 19 to 28, the Aer Lingus Kite Surf Pro will incorporate a unique mobile format, capable of showcasing each day’s action at the choicest of locations on the country’s wild and swell-abundant west coast.

Home base for competitors and contest officials will be the Pure Magic Lodge on Achill Island in the county of Mayo. From here, a number of prime wave spots are within close reach. Conditions at each of the spots will be evaluated each morning to select the best possible condtitions for the event.

Local organizer, Kieran Sammon of Freeride, says: “Bringing the KSP tour to the West Coast of Ireland is a win-win situation. The riders will get to see some of the best conditions in Europe nestled in the beautiful landscape of the West Coast of Ireland and the people of Ireland can showcase the hospitality of the Irish. There is real power behind the heavy swell of the Atlantic, its a force to be reckoned with, challenging the skills of the riders. The craic will be mighty!”.

The Aer Lingus Kite Surf Pro 2012 the KSP also announces round 3 of the 2012 Fantasy KSP powered by Fantastar.com. Open as of today, the round will remain open until midnight on October 18, 2012 (GMT), just hours before the start of the Irish leg of the tour.

It's all beginning to kick off over here. Most the pros arrived earlier this week, and were out this morning practiceing in 40 knots. There's a few of them still trying to figure out how to put on a wetsuit. I guess its there first time ;)

Haha...nice one....i was wondering how they will "adapt" to conditions in Eire.

Hopefully we get some real Wild West condiitons to see what they can do with it...fingers crossed and ready to rock and roll!

Most common wind directions are around W to SW, but that means very little as it could be from any direction and any strength at any time.

Currently strong winds and biggish waves are dying off during today.

Next waves in the area are forecast for late Saturday through to Monday.

This stop is going to be much more difficult to organise than previous ones as there are so many spots which all suit different swell or wind directions and the whole circus has to move to the spot for that day.
Its going to be difficult to achieve. Some of the best spots have difficult access down small roads. If they can get everything to run smoothly on the first attempt at this type of thing, it will be a great achievement.

Have to say the KSP event on Sunday proved that the KSP team and the local team can run a very slick competition on the move.
This format can work well - just need to be lucky with the conditions.

Just hope some more waves will return by the end of the 10 days.

A photo from Heat 1 on Sunday. The mountain on the left is Achill Island, where the Tour is based.

This is the location of Sunday's action.
