Well, I'll say it takes some balls to bail out - knowing you (and myself), as one WANTS to do it !

But the right thing to do - otherwise you would not have any balls left now...

51-58 mph is 23-26m/s or 45-50 knots, and AVERAGE !!!

Not knowing if it might pick up to the double amount in a hurry, it was a good decision IMO 8)

But thumbs up for giving it a shot :thumb:

No decision to make here in Northeast. Beaches closed, highways closed ,mandatory evacuations,"Worst storm of century", I'm just inland enough to be safe from 10' plus storm surge with 15-20' waves. Water being pushed into Long island sound with no where to go.Blowing 30 to 50 now, astrological high tide coinciding landfall and strongest winds.(45-60 gusts 75) Lost a kayaker yesterday, body not found. Not sure if we'll have any beaches left to launch from the rest of year. Irene was bad last year, just getting back to normal. This is much worse.Stay safe!

Good luck to everyone in the northeast. I hope Sandy moves faster and subsides sooner than Irene before so much damage occurs. When people go off about how wonderful hurricanes are and how they look forward to them, something like what the northeast is going through comes to mind. You never really know how bad in advance when you're in the shooting barrel. Fun has a larger price sometimes than others, for someone anyway.

Dimitri, good sense earned through long hard experience with lots of knocks along the way will outweigh cojonese or raw bravado every time. Good choice in short.

Another reason not to go out in Hurricane Sandy.

We had a good session in Illinois on the backside of Sandy yesterday, with gusty NW winds 15-30 mph on Clinton Lake. Three of us rode anything from 7.5 to 13.5 on TTs and strapless surfboards. The air was cold but the water was warm, so as long as you sat down and warmed up your hands in the water periodically it was fine in a wetsuit.
