Hi Peter,
Thanks for your input on this bunch of kites.
Have you been lucky enough to try any 2013 models?
An udpaded demo list with 2013 models would be appreciated :cool2:

The main 2 new ones to look out for and to test are:
- Best Cabo
- Switch Method 2 (soon to be announced)

Please note: it is not the high price that makes a kite better for waves

I still prefer kites that:
- Turn quick on the wingtip allowing correcting errors
- Relaunch very quickly as the kite will end up in the water one day (more than often) and then you will be happy you can relaunch before the waves kill it
However: you need to make up what you want in waves

Tips:
- If you are buried by a wave steer the kite against the wave or wind in order to keep it up in the air
- If it drops into the sea a relaunch fails then the quick release is often the better option
- If it starts dragging you dangerously then let the kite completely go if the beach is sandy

I've been riding more waves since my last post. (Still on the TT most of the time but my directional skills are getting better) and I have found my Taina to work really well. As you pointed out fast turning and quick re launch are key :-)

Would just like a new board now. As I've recked my come into shallow

Been watching this thread for a while. Personally don't think there is a perfect wave kite. Everyone is different, ride different conditions and prefer different feels, I.E smooth constant power turn v pivotal turn etc

The biggest difference will always be the rider, and people should also be wary of people generalising about kites and about their turning speed, power and drifting abilities. I have owned and wave ridden on wainmans 9 and 6.5, nomads 11,9,7, Evo's 9 and 7, Reo's 10,8,6, bandit V 9 and 7 and BWS 8,6,5. All of these wave ride well as long as you adjust your riding/timing depending on its feel. Have read a few things in this thread I would disagree with. Of these I've listed the nomads and Reo's were less powerful, the Reo's bandits and BWS drifted the best and the also the quickest turning. The wainmans and Reo's were more pivotal in turning and the bandits, BWS and Evo's the most constant power in smooth turning. The wainmans Evo's and bandits are most all round. Best upwind, BWS and bandits, best for onshore consist ions for me BWS, bandits and Reo's in that order.

Try everything you can, listen to people who've used kites but be aware they ride different to you. For now I'm very happy with a bandit V 12m, bandit VI 9m and BWS 8,6,5.

Hi mike. This may sound like a stupid question. But as you obviously have more experience than me can you help me out. I'm really happy with my kite. I truly love it. Where I struggle is timing on coming in from a session when on my directional. I have recently been stopping a fair way from shore as, as I have said above I broke a couple of fins coming in too shallow. The shore dump is fairly aggressive where I surf and its a pebble beach. What is the best approach to shore? As in not having to get off early and wade/ body drag in?

Hey Mike, so the BWS are quick turners? I've heard the complete opposite, like the Cab Drifter they're slow turners. they're better suited for drifting on bigger waves. Also how did you feel about BWS's claim of their kites running a bit large, accurate?

Can you elaborate a bit on your experience with the BWS.

Tnx in advanced
