2012 was a special year. The 2012 boards were good looking, super light and stiff. Perfect construction. I tried so many boards over the past years and I finally found the perfect one with the 2012 Wam and Kontact. Only real issue were the straps. Cheap quality especially when it came to the size adjustment mechanism.
I tried the whip 2013. Not impressed. Construction is very plain, got heavier and graphic is terrifying. Plus North increased price for kites and board by at least 10%. Will make it very hard for me to keep myself loyal. I refuse to spend close $2,000 for a 12m kite and $1,000 for a surfboard. North can leverage on their economy of scale and in my opinion really risk losing market share if they keep increasing pricing so much. It's the first year I am not rolling 2012 into 2013 gear.
I think inventory left on 2012 will go v fast. It's a special year. U can find at many US shop at about 20-30% off

I think Er Presidente is Rommey and well he lost! A friend of mine came to Brasil with a new Wam 2012 I was very disappointed in the quality of this board, pads had came off numerous times front and back it was like the surface was not prepared correctly for the pads to stick. Construction well lets call it on the fragile side, I was scared to ride it hard. I am a surfer with more than 30 years experience the ride of the board was great just thought it could have been made better. Also the angle on the fin boxes where the screws go is very bad, my bro Mark had to have a guy here re-do his fin boxes. For me this 1000 dollars surfboard is not worth the price tag, but I am not your typical North customer so go figure. If you are gonna spend this kind of money there are way better boards if you want one to last, these are one season if you are lucky throw away boards. If you look on the web there are all kinda of top notch board for way cheaper. Real has Merricks for 300 to 400 dollars gimme one of these! I have no affiliation to North obviously or anyone else I pay full price for my kit.
