Hi guys,
I'm looking for some info on snowkiting around the Jyvaskyla region. I will visit here in the last week of december and the first two of january and would like to go snowkiting there.
Can anyone tell me where I can do this? I spotted some large lakes on google maps. How reliable will the ice be? And how much snow does there usually fall on top?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

There are active kiters in Jyväskylä area. One way to get in touch with those guys is to send private message to Youtube-user Laneohra.
Ice kiting around New Year is always a question mark. It depends a lot what kind of November/December we have in southern Finland. Last year my season started Jan 19th (170km away from Jyväskylä).
There are some weak ice spots because of power plants and flows, but I'll not give you any advice other than contact the locals as I don't know Jyväskylä area. Like said it depends how the lakes freeze. Usually 10cm steel ice is more than enough. Skaters-extremists go on ice much earlier with proper gear.
