Ahoy, has anyone have tried both the Fly and the largest park? How do they compare to each other? How do they perform in 7-8 knots wind? What is their absolute minimum wind need? Cheers

I haven't ridden the fly, but I have ridden the park 14. If you really want to ride in 7-8 knots, the park 14 isn't going to cut it. If you want a fun big kite to ride with a twin tip in 10-18 knots (if you are light) then its a good kite.

... my sons ridden both and no contest, Fly is better light wind kite. Not my personal favorite but my son loves the Fly (he's into the flicky flicky tricks btw).

I owned both at same time. Fly Hands down more juice!!! I weigh 240 lbs. Fly EXTREMELY stable in SUPER light wind.

What weather conditions do you you consider SUPER light wind - we got a demo Fly at the club house I'd like a spin on.

Super light =s 8-11 mph. Fly the Fly lower in the window. Has a harder pull. I purposely put the kite up in 4-6 mph and it stays put. Its as stable as a Flysurfer overhead IMO for what it's worth. Fly it and C what u think. U may not like it.

What is the difference in the top end of the two kites? If a 12m 2012 Park is OK in 20 knots, perfect at 25 and I can hold it down at 30 knots, what would the corresponding range (and perfect wind) equate to for the 14m and Fly?

I have both kites really like them.Im 225lbs and first off the 14m park is more high performance,turns faster and can handle higher winds I can ride it up 25mph easy and still hang in there.The fly low end is pretty amazing I can think about going out in 13-15mph steady breeze,i like it because you can get out when the waves are relatively still clean light texture,it does not turn as fast as my 14m park nor does it turn like a 12m kite NOT! but both of these kites are excellent for the bigger crowd.the fly for me tops out around 20mph,but had it out in bit more and finished my session.Ive been kiting since 04 and I have to say the fly has the best lowend/grunt/pull of any kite I have ever owned/tried hands down! and Ive had tried many over the years.If your over 200 lbs you really have to consider both of these kites for your quiver.The 14m park is my all time favorite all around bigkite.

Thanks guys for the insights. So the verdict is that the Fly has better low end. I am considering a kite for the super light breezes, say between 7-14 knots as a step up from my 12m which has a low end starting there, but do not want to go as big as the Zephyr. Is the Fly a sheet-in&out type of beast?
