Kiteboarding can get back to concentrating on it's real roots now without trying to reinvent kiteboarding history and kiteboard racing for $$.

Racers can choose their own path /rules without interference, new classes will emerge suited to whatever individuals want to do or can afford. Kooks cannot comment or have influence on something which they know very little about.

Kiteboarders can look after themselves, the kind of politics/bureaucracy involved in the whole affair was such a huge turn off, so far removed from the freedom of kiteboarding we have known and loved so far - so long may it stand.

Kiteboarders don't need to take the piss out of sailing or windsurfing, just enjoy what you do and let others enjoy what they do.

Still, a very interesting affair, and a lot learned about a lot of people, showing their true colors.

Kiteboarding rules.

Ah hell, just send Cory Roeseler down there and have him crash the windsurfing races and take first like he did with the Columbia Gorge blowout in the early nineties.

Yeah I am wondering what was going on in the back there...they did not get enough votes to get it back up for voting, then they do it anyways? That is insane.
I really hope I have the facts wrong here, because otherwise that whole organization is a joke and kiters better just stay away from it altogether.

The setup in many organizations in sports are pretty much a fascist autocratic rule. All included with bribes. Something must have been going on for this to be happening.

Yes, corrupted they are.
Rio should not have been selected in first place (but I'm happy it did), the city has not and will not have adequate infrastructure and can theoretically still loose the Olympics due to this.
But that wont happen as long as the Olympic committee gets free ass when coming here.

As I have said before I do both sports
It was fundamentally wrong to drop one for the other
But should have been incorporated into the Olympics which would have stopped the hate campaign which is no longer needed. :argue:

Yes kitesurfing racing needs to get its grass roots sorted with a more structured base
Maybe Mr Branson would help with something like the Virgin kite race board challenge or the kitesurfing industry it would be a good place to rebuild for the Olympics 2020

One of the most impressive things was the RSX racers who tried kite racing were doing very well in such a short time (well done guy’s once a competitor always a competitor) :thumb:

"Did you know that windsurfers in the waves have right of way when going out"

i never been to a place where someone riding a wave on whatever craft (windsurf or kite) doesn't have right of way.It doesn't take long for anyone on any craft to understand this if they are a kook mixing it up in the lineup. Wave riding windsurfers have have had this etiquette way longer than kiters.

Olympics is a multinational money making feast and I don't mind at all my sport not being part of it. 8)

This thread is a prime example of the sort of problem that hit both windsurfing and surfing in their early days. Initially taken up by people with a water background who had genuine respect and love for what they were doing, it then becomes invaded by the legions of kooks who see it as nothing more than the latest, greatest and 'kewlest' fad they can leech onto, with no respect for it's origins or the previous mutual respect that existed.

If your local beach no longer has windsurfers, it's probably because they have migrated to different beaches where they don't have to hassles of dealing with the multitudes of 2nd gen kiters who have no understanding of space, basic rules of the sea or respect for the locals whose beach it used to be.

No doubt we are fast, but arrogantly asserting we are the 'fastest' is a bit premature as the last time a professional windsurfer went head to head with professional kite surfers around a course, he blitzed them, and he was sailing on recreational non race gear.

You should be grateful that windsurfers have accepted kiting with the grace they have, it would be pretty easy for them to raise a massive stink with harbor masters, coast guards and the like over the dangers and breaches of the rules of the sea that this new generation of kiter's, who don't have a windsurf or surfing background, have brought with them. There would certainly be a lot more scope for wide beach bans judging by the typical behavior, near misses and collisions we already see.

Hopefully the next great fad will come along shortly and we will see another great kook migration taking these crap attitudes and arrogance with them. Which is also why kite racing missing out is a good thing, as we don't need any more of them.
