Hey Guys,
Was thinking of heading to Vietnam last week of November. How's the wind? I've been in Christmas/New Years back in 2010/2011 and it was so so.
I also grew to completely distrusts the windfinder forecast. Is this generally the case?
If i'm there for a week, how much kiting am I likely to do?

You wont be able to guarantee wind in Nov. or early December however I have lots of friends in Mui ne now who say its been good so far. I have typically found that the wind is closer to the Phan Thiet reading than mui ne beach/bay reading on Windguru. I think this is because they cannot calculate the thermal (which is what the wind largely is there).
If you've only got a week, then I'd gamble that 4-5 days would be good. But it is a gamble in November anyhow.
Last year the wind really kicked in mid December until mid February but with big kites you will hardly miss any days.
Hope to see you, I'm leaving Next week for Mui Ne.

Everyone that is in Mui Ne now says there has been loads of wind in the last 3 weeks!
Otherwise there are still buckets to keep the fun going

Going to Thailand on the 15th. My other option is to head to Hua Hin, but the wind always sucks there. I"m heading over to Angkor Wat on the 17th so could come after that.
I'm curious how the wind is the next few days, so keep reporting those of you who are there.

Also if you guys have advice on accommodation that would be great. Ive been before during new year and found a decent place for 30 bucks per night so I expect it to be cheap. No need to spend 150 bucks a night when I can get near about the same thing for 30 or less.
I'm flexible on budget, but basically just want something convenient. Ideally a place that will store your kites and has a compressor, or at least really close to such a place. If it has a friendly kite vibe to it even better. What can I say I love the kiting community?
Other than that we like clean sheets, ac, and don't really care about anything else.

This is high season in January but you can get a room for $15 night with A/C wifi, hot water, TV. etc. There are a few spots to choose from. Gio Bien usually has lots of room and they are across from C2Sky. Launch there for a small charge (Talk with Jeff) Got the vibe and a compressor
See ya there.

Those of you who are there please give an update as to how conditions change on Thursday. Right now windguru has phan thiet at like 30 miles and hour but this will drop to 13 on Thursday. I'm curious if that is accurate at all. So let me know.
