When towing a Para glider , the piece of equipment that makes it "Safer"
than what that guy did , is the payout winch . It works kinda like the star-drag adjustment
on a fishing-reel ; adjust the pressure on the drum, and if it goes over then the drum turns
and the line feeds out. It cuts down on the number of lock-outs that can occur. Even with
that system i have had to abort about 2 to 3% of all tows i've done with a PG. That's two
to three f*ck-ups out of every one-hundred.

Then the Release system will screw-up about
1 to 2% of the time and the tow-line will need to get sliced with a hook-knife.

And last there's the PG itself ; it won't preform to optimum every time either.

So knowing what i know about towing PG :
I would "Never" do what that guy did , the risk/reward is WAY better with the PG,
and i --Have/might-- get to thermal to 11K after release from the tow with a PG .

Best This guy can hope for is to survive the small rush he got from doing something
Stupid ; it would rank right up there with sniffing Glue for a High, i'd rather use JD &
pot because it seams like the brain cells might last a Lil Longer !!

Already in 2005 we could jump as high as a kite.
The trick is to use a small wave (less than 1 foot) in knee deep water and the right timing.

You can't lockout towing up with a kite. Lines are too long and you still have the full steering of the kite. Not that this is a safe practice but its fun I recommend holding the rope so you can let go if there is sudden shock loading.

No, all but you know that your pic is a perspective trick. You are not even half the height of the kite behind and the topic is "as high as a kite".

With "proofs" like that I can show you that I can jump about 400m high as tower below me is 135m. And on the left you can see another kite, I am wayyyy over it.

This is a helmet cam video frame of a low wind lake session 5-7m/s gusting wind. It is not a blood freezing jump or anything I'd call high, but it is a jump to kite's height. I just posted this to give an example.
