The King is 165x45, and the fins are virtually non existent..
The sector 60 / one design is 60 wide and the fins are much bigger. I'd say a sector would need half the amount of power to get going than a Mako, and go upwind twice as well..
but speed in heavy chop.. probably the Mako, though the dedicated directional of a sector makes them easy, though if there is enough wind to produce that chop would you not be on a small board?
If you want to compare a sector to a Mako king then it would have to be the Sector 54, It's tri fin, swept and is pretty good round the corners.. I do use it in waves, and do well with it.. certainly getting around better than any of the wave guys. The 54 would definitely go a lot earlier than the King, but you would have to speak to someone who knew the King vs big surfboards vs 54 to really get an honest opinion.
In my book.. go full directional or go twin tip.. don't mess around with half way house..
