I have used mine a couple of time. Love it so far. It is an Apex so it is a tight fit and snug. I think it is perfect for cruising, jump and long sessions because of the support. Maybe not ideal for the freestyle junkies.

The new ION Apex top of the line harness is the "Select"............................

A friend says to me that there is no difference between the Apex Gold (2012) and the Apex Select (2013) just only cosmetic changes.

Those anyone try The New Apex Select (2013) that can confirm it.

Thanks

Manuel

I have a ION select that I have been riding since the begining of Sept. I have about 35 sessions on it. Before I was in the North air styler. I have ridden Dakine, Mystic, Naish, Best, The mystic was my favorite for fit, before the north airstyler, but they seemed to break down fast.

I love the way the ION adjust with the four metal buckles and not a 2 plastic clip fold over. It adjust on the fly so easily also, and you have some options with the four straps. You can change it how ever you would like to fit for what you are doing. It has a lot of support so if you want a super soft tweakable harness for short sessions this is not it. I ride race boards, twins, strapless surf boards, wakestyle with boots.. What ever the day and wind offer.....If you have had a good fit with north or ION products in the past then this harness should also fit well, the four buckles help broaden the body shape this thing fits also. The Memory foam is really neat and it hugs your sides keeping the harness in place, It seems very large and invasive when you look at it but when you wear it you really dont notice it. Worth every penny IMHO.

i have the apex gold (been using it for 4-5months now)... love it, great support, and the buckle system works well. Easy to adjust on the fly. Literally no wear and tear on it so far, i couldnt say the same about my mystic warrior2 which the buckle system was a pain and the outside layer peeled off in 3 months. I have had naish and Mystic harnesses in the past and the apex gold is by far the best. As someone else wrote it is a snug fit and may not be the best for the freestylers out there.

Billy B and DocDeuce:

Thanks for your comments. In all the reviews looks like is a great harness.

I already make the decision to buy the ION top off the line harness, that can
be Apex Gold or Apex Select..........

I just want to confirm the comments that between the 2012 model (Apex Gold) and the 2013 model (Apex Select) there is no design change, that ION only make cosmetic changes for
the 2013 Apex Select..........

I found a good deal on the 2012 (Gold).

Thanks......................

There are a few real changes from the 2012 Apex Gold to the 2013 Apex Select. It is not simply cosmetic...
Most important, the memory foam is cut in more of a sideways "V" shape rather than a simple rectangle shape to better fit your hip bones.
There are some other small changes in response to customer response, a subtle reworking of the 3d shape to better fit the 3d curve of your back, things like that. This is not to say that the 2012 Apex Gold had any problems... It was (and is) very popular. But there were small but significant improvements made when designing the 2013 Apex Select.

I got the 2013 Ion Apex Select and love it. The fit is comfy and stays put, even with a snowkite jacket underneath. With a separated rib from last summer I was surprised that it didn't hurt at all thankfully. For snowkiting, the buckle system is easy to cinch down and releases super easy even when the webbing is cold and frozen. The difficulty with cinching and releasing was my biggest complaint with harnesses in the past. Can't think of anything I'd change...except for a knife pocket I suppose. But I just used my knife with pouch combo that threads through the webbing. Seems really durable too. Two thumbs up.
