Thanks. I definitely won't be buying anything until after my lesson. At that point, assuming I have the fundamentals of being able to body drag upwind, and knowing intellectually how to board start (knowing how, opposed to being able to), It will be time to get my own stuff so that I can practice and reinforce what was learned in that lesson. I'd like to thank everyone else for their input as well. I'm still up in the air about what size to get. It is something I'll definitely talk to my instructor about. It seems to me that wind in FL is either on or off. So, like 0-5 kts or 12-20 kts. Only having flown a trainer to this point which I can get up in very light wind that is how it seems to me at least, I could be wrong. Also on the weight front, I weighed myself today, and I'm down to 188. So, depending on how I eat over the holidays, I should realistically be around 180 by the beginning to middle of January (which is right in the wheelhouse of our 'windy' season). Dimitri- I actually like alligators, and enjoy camping in the Everglades... I don't think that is where I want to practice my body dragging skills though!

glad so many people are getting to try the Epic kites. I recently changed from 3 years using RRD Obsession 12s as my "big kites" to the new Renegade LTD 13 and couldnt be happier.
THe kite is simple, very light, VERY solid despite having only 3 struts, and gets me where I need to be on the wave when the wind is light. Apart from that, the gold and black color scheme is probably the sexiest that Epic makes and its important to be in love with your wings! jeje..
I threw some velcro "bridal keepers" on the two lateral struts so that I could pump it up fast avoiding any tangles. Ive been out in waves with the surfboard in 11-13 knots (im 85kilos) and the kite still turns pretty fast with my 55cm bar as long as I keep good tension. Boosts huge and great hangtime although thats not really what I bought the kite for.
My left arm extensor tendons used to always flare up after a good day of kiting in light winds cause Im always toeside trying to stay on the wave (as the kite is pulling me off...onshore winds..) and with the EPIC I find the pressure is quite reduced and my arm hasnt been giving me trouble this year.
All in all, very happy with this 13 and I dont think Ill ever need "more" kite for the lightwind days as I always go for the surfboard anyway.
Great job Epic! and thanx for all the help from the "back office" with the customs reciepts, shipping headaches, etc...great company to deal with.

Dimitri, I gotta ask about a recent Epic banner I saw here at the bottom of the page on kiteforum. It has you with one foot in a strap, the other end of the board behind your head, and something in your mouth. I can't find the banner now, but what is going on there, haha? Was this on purpose or something somebody caught in a picture on accident? Either way it's pretty awesome! I wonder if it is on Toby's list of 660 airstyle moves? When is the next Epic attack movie? I do love to watch those. Much much better than the light wind videos Edit: Found it!
