Has anyone tried the varial race 2013 in the 17m size? Or maybe the last years 17m?
I`m looking for a LW kite and a hangtime/boost kite. I`m a heavy guy(97kg).
I will demo the 15m this week but there`s no way I can find a 17m to demo.
The only other kite close to this that I have tried was the 18m and 17m dyno`s,
I really like the dyno but the price here in Brazil is crazy and also it`s very hard to find one.
If anyone can compare the speed and bar pressure of the varial race vs dyno,
it would help me a lot.

Toby must have bought all of the Dynos in Brazil and is keeping them for himself. I think he said he bought three or four 18m Dynos. Maybe he will share with you if you ask nicely?

I'm also actively looking for a Dyno 16m 2011... it's almost impossible to find any in good conditions. I guess davesails7 must be right, come on Toby!

today i tried airush vxr 17 (2013) and north dyno 16 (2011) on snow.
conditions: proverbial 2knots to 8knots, snowboard wax - worst ever.
vxr 17 is about 100gr heavier than dyno 16 (kite only), vxr has 5 struts (one pump), dyno 16 has 7 struts, no one pump, both have pulleys in the bridles.
vxr has bar with the webbing adjustor, dyno has a clamcleat.
both have lite or may be moderate bar pressure, vxr has just slightly liter bar pressure, but since i'm a big guy (107kg) heavy bars are not problem for me any way.
turning speeds are equally good. just like my beloved 2010 14m gaastra jekylls. i had a switch nitro 16m, and there was not space enough in the earth atmosphere to complete the first stroke in these conditions, so slow to turn it was.
dyno slightly flutters on the hard turns making fart noises. vxr noticeably whistles in its bridles when it flies.
dynos AR seems to be lower than vxr's one. may be that is why dyno is more sensitive to wind gusts. i think vxr has more wind range, and if you are planing to use it with the race board it would be the best choice. for tt board personally i'd use dyno 16.
but, i heard north changed aerodynamic qualities on dyno 17 for the 2012 closer to airush vxr's. so if you have better price and/or availability for the airush kite go for it.

I have tried the v1 VXR and the V2 VXR (both different in feel) and there is a new VXR coming out very soon.
V1 was very efficient - high aspect and a good race kite, but not so good a freeride kite
V2 was a VERY good freeride kite (fast handling - progressive depower), but not as good for racing (efficient)
The new kite... I have no idea, will be with us in a few months. It's supposed to be more efficient, but not sure how applicable it is for freeriding...
I don't know a lot about the Dynos sadly.

Hmattar I'm looking for someone who can bring the USA a dyno or blade fat lady.

I'm looking for a freeride kite for light winds and not race. I'll have a chance to demo the 2013 15m this weekend. Lets see how it goes.
Weekend demo with Alex Pastor!!! Too bad they won't have the 17m :/

In which case you may like it - that 15 2013 model is quite quick around the window and a pretty good freeride kite. I use the 15 as my biggest and enjoy it a lot - very progressive depower too.
you ride a freerace board or a race board?
for me, the biggest % boost to your light wind ability at a fraction of the cost of new kites is a good freerace board. They need 1/2 to 1/3 the power of a trad twin tip, and are a LOT more interactive to ride in these winds.
