WOW! I watched this movie last night on Youtube finally!

What a great doc on the sport. The early 2 line kites and foils, and how much these guys respect Wainman's tricks. The early bars with the spool for the lines and they could self relaunch from the water by spooling out. So much history and engineering progression in the film.

A must see for any kiter! Go to youtube now and watch!!!!

The one the that pooped out at me was the kite community. He said something like this:

"When you got to the beach and you saw another kiter you were instantly excited and became friends, because you know that they will probably be the one launching and landing your kite for you"

I think this aspect is disappearing. We need to be a closer community so there aren't 'kooks' and beaches remain safe and kite friendly.

true, in the beginning it was like this...getting more and more anonymous!
too bad...but things like a monthly meeting in areas can help to have a better atmosphere, since you know the people when you get to the beach, and also can share rides!

Random question, guys...

What's the Hawaiian steel guitar song that plays over the beginning of the credits, starting at about 51:45.

Check it out at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e61HxV2Hquw

I know this song, but it's driving me nuts that I can't name it...

Thanks

In Thailand now - everyone comes up and says hi, hows the wind etc. Met everyone who kites and it's been great.

Bit different in Japan . . .
