If you are referring to horn tooting, one guy is running a Kiteboarding business, and using a Kiteboarding forum, that he pays to advertise on, to promote that business, just as every other Kiteboarding Equipment Manufacturing Company does, the other guy is an Optician, and is not here to promote his business.
One guy is promoting his product, not his personal skillset.
The other is discussing his personal skillset...at launching a kite off a sandy beach in 10 knots.
Does the difference between these things elude you?
Do you promote the business you work in?
I promote my business, and it grows.
You still got your nuts in a vise over a pulley I said I would give you for free?
OK,
Both you and Mr. D thinks that the main purpose of a forum is as a sales channel for manufacturers rather than to be a meeting point for users to share experiences and give useful information to each other.
Both you and Mr. D likes to flash with the fact that you know my real name, I couldn't care less, but its clearly a proof of lack of judgement and some kind of desperation that you feel a need to use it.
Mr. D is a ego trip on steroids, you would have seen that to, if you had not had your head up his ass.
I rest my case :bye:

Well said olden....but i do not think and feel........ i am over the hill like you..and broken...so sorry

Let's put age in perspective
Lets go in a 13 years time machine.. :D
There is 81 and ++(record holders) 68 (wow) ...55 (me)....42 (dimitri)...
.....29 (many many riders)..16 and less ( the future of the sport)

I was "just" sharing a "new twist" on an old technique about self launching.....
...that does not require "folding" the wingtip.....(simply can't be done with most modern kites)
...and that does not require putting "actual sand" in the kite to keep it down

Putting sand in the kite can make the kite get stay "hooked"down when launching
Bringing and empty sandbag to the beach (weighs nothing)...
.....than filling it for launch......than spilling it out after session...it what i wanted to share

Some will like that idea and it will work where they kite

It is a technique similar to many...staked kite..helper holding kite...because kite at launch.....
..... it takes off from beach and goes immediately at the edge of wind window......
....with minimum pull...and maximum control of the kite.....in my opinion

It is not only a 8kn or 10kn way to launch
Wind speeds as high as 30-35kn+...with proper size kite...8...6...5..no problem at all...very safe
At high wind speeds..add actual sand on "trailing edge" (15-20lbs)....
.... between center strut and "leeward" wing tip
....this will eliminate windmill twist of kite into the wind..due to the raised wingtip on smaller kites
....this TE sand spills easily and totally off when kite takes off

Also my point was that with that technique (lines on)...
...the kite remains flat on it's back (no flipping)....so you can clearly see that lines are perfect....
...as you unroll your lines before take off...
....left side of bar matches left side of kite....
....right side of bar matches right side of kite

There is less to do....you get on the water very fast

I can do and have tried EVERY way possible that exists to SELF LAUNCH FAST
And i SIMPLY wanted to share the one that works all the time for me

Don't take it to heart, dude - you just can't win sometimes  In case we forget, here are the rules to the internet...

If you agree with a popular opinion, you're guilty of jumping on the bandwagon.
If you disagree with a popular opinion, you're a kook.
If you disagree and have good, logical reasons, you're a self-appointed expert.
If you post data to back up your opinion, it's dismissed because it's not peer-reviewed by peers your antagonist agrees with.
If you are discussing something and your antagonist thinks he knows his subject, you will be told that you can't reply unless you have a PhD in the subject.

... have I forgotten any?

NOTED... and i approve totally your message of wisdom :thumb:

And i have a story ...that someone of authority once told me the exact same thing

I was returning from a pizza dinner by with my windsurfing friend....(no booze-just Pellegrino water)
...and we had ACDC "thunderstruck" song blasting REAL LOUD in my civic

For about two miles a police car was keeping right behind me

I kept looking in my rear view mirror and just kept driving normally at speed limit
.......having a blast rocking the supa loud music

Suddenly he put his lights on and asks me to pull over.....which i did

I said what is wrong officer?
He says i am going to write you a warning ticket

He handed me the ticket and it said on it

.........IMPROPER USE OF HORN............

What had happened is that the whole time he was following me...
....i was drumming to the beat of ACDC....
....and "TOOTING" my car's horn without being aware of it

This technique looks good for light wind and big kites when it would be hard to get the larger kite to lift of its leading edge on the beach. But I see no reason to do it when there is appropriate wind with smaller kites. Its easier and faster to just lay the kite down leading edge into the wind, weigh down a wingtip with sand on the canopy, walk to the opposite side of the window, pull the outside line rotating the kite into the wind and relaunch like in the water. works every time and in high wind. But like all things in kiting if you have a system in place that works for you consistently then that is the right way.
