I only racked in around 90 between kite and cable. I could have done way more but Dr.'s orders where to take it easy because of my shoulders did show tearing in the labram. I actually had to cut my kite season at the beginning of our season :angryfire: . This year will be way better though as I'm all most 100% after my surgeries.

Who changes a kite size? 18 always works!

Working online and filming a kite DVD does get you those numbers!

its hard for me to fathom one kite and 30 sessions in a month!!.... your conditions must be insanely predictable. yesterday alone i used 13m, 10m, 15m. today 1.5m!!!... longboardskate kiting!

though i admin i could ride 90% of my sessions on the 10m but i'd be plenty underpowered and overepowered on 50% of the sessions.

One can always define a session like one wants.

In my eyes, a "session" is times to the beach, where you pack everything down again when you leave.

No matter if using 3 or 4 kitesizes that day, or one, change boards, or if you ride from one spot to another, and back again (on the water), or take an upwinder or downwinder to another spot and get a lift back maybe - I still count it as "one" session.

Only if I pack down and go to another spot and rig my kite(s) again, even on the same day, I would count it as two sessions.

Does not happen often though...

But I might be on vacation on an Island in the summer and go out in the morning or till midday - then take the ferry to the mainland - and on my way back home drive to a good wavespot if the wind is right, and kite in the evening.
This is two sessions in my definition :naughty:
In the summertime here, the sun rises between 4 and 4:30 and sets around 22:30 so sunny more than 18 hours, and typically okay "light" to kite between 3 and midnight so more than 20 possible hours one can kitesurf 8)

In the winther it is worse though, as less than 7 hours with daylight, and every single one when most are at work (sun up 9 to 15:45), so only weekends where you can kite (unless it is -15 degrees).

If one lives right next to the beach though - each DAY out should be counted as one session, if it should be comparable - even if you go home after another kitesize or boards, or are out many times the same day (at the same spot).

I have a large number of yearly sessions though - and dont know if this is good really
As honestly, less and better sessions would be the goal IMO :thumb:

:D Peter

I agree Peter, that is how I counted my sessions as well.

Normally I do one session per day, not two. For filming I had few days with a morning and afternoon session, since at midday the light is bad for filming.

:thumb: APPROVED......mark the calendar once per day you got to ride

LIVING.......800 FT from beach helps tremendously....
......session can be short in the winter after work 30-60 min+ ....and summer 2-3 hrs+

We get a lot of wind on the south coast of the UK, but any thing with north in it is no good and the 2hours either side of high tide are no good, my estimate is there were about 120 citable days last year and of those I made 85, and to do that work had to be dropped if the conditions were right. :D

Supa those are pretty impressive numbers for FL in July and August.

Are those end of day sea breeze sessions or are you maximizing your light wind (~10knots) riding ability?

They were sessions after 5pm (too hot before) sea breezes...mostly SE...side-on wind in the surf

On that wind direction the long shore current runs with the wind at 1kn........"killin the power"

......and in that heat 85++ degrees....10kn of wind really only equals 8kn of true power

Even if breeze goes to 12kn.....(and true power is 10kn)....no one can ride their 15/14/13 or 12M

In July i rode the Core Riot XR2LW 19M 15 times.............and in August the 19M 12 times

All the other days i rode in those 2 months were on 12M ........with 15-20kn+ "hot" wind sea breezes

Maximizing LW days in the ocean is SupaFun............... :surf: :sun: ...........................................
