1. Walk before you run, start small before looking at the advanced stuff
2. If you need to ask then do not ever try anything like this

not sure what you mean with 1. can you explain more what the problem is?

But in general for boardoffs...the kite has to stay above you in the zenith...and float with you forward. If the kite moves away from zenith, you need to steer back into zenith. That's why bigger, slower kites are better for this, since you will have more control over it.

If you just want to jump high...fly the zenith close to zenith back and forth, if you have a small kite and go really high.

2: don't even think about it! Those guys have few m line length, and know what they do...never ever think about it with 10+m line length...there are other ways of self launch...just search this forum!

Wow that was really cool, but it looks like his lines are only about 10m long. Doing a hot launch even in 12 knots of wind pulls you really hard, I wouldn't want to try it with a real line length unless you're flying a tiny kite in light wind.

for the launch:

both of those launches are kite beach maui which has some very strange mini-wind shadow that I think they are exploiting along with very short lines to make that launch work. I personally would never do it as the list of things that can go wrong are way worse than how cool you look if it works!

Most hot shot kids born in 1998 and beyond need to see this....this will be your history lesson

Plus there is a nice "russian launch"...with reel bar........... at 2:20min

Time warp 40m 2 line wipikas 5.0M....29 inches bar....zero depower.. strap surfboards with leashes...

And everyone was happy to be out there :thumb:
