North Evo 13m & 10m quiver add a 8m or 7m

Postby ikite2 » Tue Jan 08, 2013 5:14 pm

Hi any advise appreciated.

Have the 13m and 10m North Evo 2012 looking to add a smaller kite for + 25kn as the 10m gets pretty overpowered above this. I am 100kg and can handle the 10m kite higher but unhooking/looping becomes tough. I am thinking the 7m as has more range but I dont see to much over 30ish+ and want to get the right size with a sweet spot for the high end of the quiver. So if the 8m would be better and bridge the gap for unhooking/looping I would rather that and miss out the few crazy days.

Cheers.

Not familiar with the Evo but I think it's a big jump from 10 to 7 ... I like tighter quivers. I have a 12/9/7 and would vote for 13/10/8 at your weight.

Im a little lighter than you, and don't do unhooked (yet) but here's my impression af the 7m.
This season i had a two kite quiver, EVO 10 and 7m (2011). im 73kg.
The kites got me a lot of days on the water, but had a few days were the 7 was a little too small. and the 10 was a little too big. (on the middle setting on the lines)

Im out with the 7m until 16-17m/sek (32-33 knots) with lots of fun :)

imo. I think you will have a better quiver with the 8m. since your a little heavier, and don't have a lot of 30+ days.

Thanks guys, was thinking the 8 was better. With the 13m and the 10m there is a noticeable gap in the sweet spot unfortunately. Its not a huge issue but as for unhooking there is a point where the 13m is just too powered and the 10m still is pretty weak.

Cheers

I have been riding Evo 2013 10 and 7 in a set.

If you prefer unhooked tricks then 10 and 7 may have a slight gap in between that you will notice unhooked. So there 8 fits better with 10.

If you prefer hooked riding/freeride with some unhooked tricks then 10 and 7 fits nicely in a set giving the maximum windrange since minor gap in the sweetspots does not really matter as 7 will be nicely powered when 10 is not yet maxed out.
