Hello everybody, I just arrived in Playa del Carmen. I am staying here until May if my savings allow it, and Im planning on doing a lot of kite surfing.
However I need a harness to have a complete kit, and I would like to know where the good spots are around here.
From what I have heard, its some spots in Playa, but the best ones are in Tulum? How do I most easily get there?
Hope to hear from some kite surfers in the area, thanks!

I live in Playa at the moment and i kite in Playa,
Haven't made it to Tulum yet..
To go and buy a harness there is only one shop on 5th avenue... It's called Ikarus.
They have some nice Mystic harnesses, Dakine I think and some Ion.
To kite in Playa you have about three options.
#1 is by Sandos resort where the school is located, good for beginners, lots of room.
#2 is Coco beach at the end of CTM(46th Av.).
#3 is Playacar Phaze 1.
If its blowing from the north you can go up to Isla Blanca north of Cancun, really cool spot kiting in the lagoon, Pdck.com organizes trips there.
If you have more questions just give me a shout.

Awesome, thanks! And is it free to kite at sandos or do I have to pay to get in? They have a store there too, right? I was there once, but that was a sunday and they were closed. I have tried both calling them and emailing, but havent gotten any response yet... I just got a bike today, I´ll head over there tomorrow morning and see if anybody is there.

Do you anything about kiting at xcalacoco beach on the north end? I will be staying there and some say there is good kiting there.

+1 on Isla Blanca. Took a trip there 2 years ago.
Great times!
Here's a video. No the water isn't yellow. I just got a little carried away with color saturation

Playa Del Secreto is where we stayed just a few minutes north of Playa Del Carmen. Had some decent wave riding there right out in front of our casa as well.

Hi,
Last year I went from 9 - 25 march to Sandos playacar in Playa del Carmen,... Thanks to
http://www.pdckiteboarding.com/
The PDC kiteboarding club is right on the beach of this hotel. Really nice and professional guys,..with all level of schooling, but individual kiting with own equipment is no problem. I could kite 11 out of the 14 days,.. got diving on the no-wind days :while my wife enjoyed the local drinks and very nice sandy beach.. Fantastic expierience... I took my 12m kite with me which was just ok (85 kg) I'll go back second half of march this year,.. maybe we meet.??

Hey, I live in Playa del Carmen, you can kite in Playa Car (fase 1 or the Sandos) or Cocobeach near the Canibal Royal restaurant. About the shop, you can find everything on Ikarus (5th and 22). I know many good places around, especially Isla Blanca, call me if you need anything 984 133 75 32 Jaime
