In Tarifa for a month

Postby dabesa » Tue Jan 15, 2013 3:58 pm

Hey folks,
I'll be in Tarifa for a month, from mid-February till mid-March :jump:

For the ones that lives there or have been there: do I need a car to get to the kite beaches or is there any alternative?

Anyone else going there that period?

Thanks!

If you are going to live in the center of Tarifa town yes, you will need a car. There is place that you can sail with any wind Valdevaqueros beach (levante and poniente winds) at 10 km from tarifa in los Lances beach (2km) is offshore with levante the main wind direction and on shore with Poniente wind you can sail in the beaches near the town.

Depending on the wind you will like to go (scape) to more spots around 50 km of tarifa when the wind blows 50 knots in Tarifa.

For sure you need a full wet suit.

You dont need a car but it is nicer. You can kite at the beach in Tarifa until June, then it is forbidden.
Even in Lavante ( cross off shore ) we offen kite right in front of Tarifa main beach.

Palmones 30 min away was my favorit. Nice flat water in a small arear.

Have a nice trip.

I'd bring a longer suit, the wind can be a bit chilly after a few hours on the water this time of year. I'd have a look at Aurigacrown.com for car hire, not an affiliate or anything just had v good service in the past.

I would defi Italy rent a car, at least to start. Once you've settled in and found a place to live then you can maybe get by without one.

I rented with Auriga and highly recommend them. Great price. Located just over the border as you walk across from Gibraltar.
