Nice one. I still think IKA is right though. I would suggest using helmets, but apart from that, most sports I know of has these risks...well except golf and curling maybe? http://www.uncoached.com/2010/02/05/horrible-sports-injuries/One of my teammates spat out three teeth before continuing to play. Our goalie broke his nose twice in a season, and were denied use of face mask. I've broken bones..and this is a regular ball sport. Shit I was wrong about the curling injuries. They exist. Though sweeping injury is not as bad I guess... http://bjsm.bmj.com/content/38/5/e29.full

"it's no more dangerous than any other sport other than golf and curling"
My reasoning is that non kiting parents read "it's no more dangerous than any other sport" not much else, i don't have a problem with kiteracing it's fun, I have done far more dangerous stuff

Many years ago I remember reading about a windsurfer on a raceboard that died when the fin severed an artery on his leg. No laughing matter. Back then the recommendation was to sand the edges of the fin just a bit as it apparently does not need to be sharp as a butcher's knife.

Yes, we know all sports are dangerous. Life is dangerous, but still it hurts when you get injured.
AV ! Longwhitecloud - hope your friend will recover soon and well.

Didn't have too see that. Ouch ! Now combine an injury like that in the Florida shark infested waters and see what happens.

That's why my mantra is: long jon all the way, even in hot weather.
Do you know what were the conditions for such an injury? I mean, people tend to do stuff with inappropriate gear... like big air with a raceboard.
