With the X-Games behind him, superpipe dominance proven, slopestyle not, and 14 year old snowboarder Hirano situated to take the lead in the future, Shaun White is moving on to kiteboarding. Anyone who followed Shaun on Facebook over the past year has seen a continued commitment to surfing and desire to explore new things. With kiteboarding's inability to make it into the 2016 Rio Olympics, Slingshot saw that a big name was needed to take the sport to the next level.
Shaun will continue snowboarding under his Burton sponsorship but when he looked out for the "Burton of Kiteboarding" Slingshot was there. Slingshot has let loose several big names over the past few years such as Ben Wilson, Youri Zoon and recently Ruben Lenten and that sponsorship budget is going into the wallet of Mr. White. When reached for comment, Shaun said that none of this is true, but it would certainly be rad and goes well with his GoPro sponsorship. He has his eye on the surf and snow segments of kiteboarding, but is not going to ignore the wakestyle dominated slider parks. The only thing for certain is that you won't find Shaun mowing the lawn.
