Great post Pump me up. You're right about everything. I had a FS speed2 19 mts SA and its effective range was 8 to 12 knots with a door. I sold the first day it hit the water and then the beach sand and i had to activate the 5th line, what a mess with all that bridles¡¡¡

In flight the LEIs are infinitely better than the foils. Now I have a Dyno 18 with a range 8-18 knots with 85kg and I can't be happier with this kite.

Last summer I flew alongside a FS speed3 21 mts in 8-9knts and was so slow and boring and I don't think at all it had the same high end they say when the wind picked up lets say 5-6 knots more the Fs guy had to went out to the beach he was clearly over power with a 137x42 board.

By the way it's a pity that this becomes a leis vs foils thread.

WOW this is over 3 times that low wind speed that you do with your ZEEKO 21m2 and your foilboard

get damaged heaps less than leis.

not if you put your kite in a tree

i've landing my speed 3 into a tree.... slowly peeled it out. no damage.

a barbed wire fence! no damage

light post.... no damage

drift wood.... no damage.

house.... no damage.

hahaha i sound like a bad flyer.
but all of those are landboarding in ultralite wind with those obstacles directly down wind!.

anyone who thinks leis are more robust that foils is just plain wrong.

Infact 8 years of flying foils. zero canopy repairs.
4 years of inflatables. half a doz repairs with one torn in half. multiple small tears, scrapes and wholes.

the bridle makes it a lot harder to get down. How do you get it down when it's 20 meters up in a giant tree? You gotta climb.

Back to topic

This 21m2 tube is 6% lighter weight than a 21m2 foil

That right there is quite an achievement in itself :winner2:

Not much to pump...3 struts + leading edge....2 1/2 minutes at most by hand pump to inflate

Deflating a big LW tube is quite faster than getting that huge amount of pillow air (1 psi).......

....trapped between the twinskins...and get it "all out" of those 2 small deflate velcro valves flaps

I did the test with my 19 Core vs SP3 21...i timed myself using both..tube wins overall

Setting up and "on water riding" with 19 tube = 5 min.....same thing with 21 foil filled up = 4 min
I can pump my 19 in 80 seconds at 6 psi
Packing down and leaving beach = 5 min.......same thing with 21 foil = 9 min.

9 minutes is a very long time especially when a thunderstorms is coming

The reason for using a large foil for LW is becoming virtually unnecessary in this day an age

............ :sun: :pump: :surf: :sun: :pump: :surf: ..............

Think you need some training on how to pack up a speed 3. From pulling the landing strop i'm packed up in about 3 mins...
