two things:

1) it's a "bit" more difficult to perform tricks when it's blowing 35 knots in SA. You are not able to ride big kites there, and hence the mistakes are really punished when things go wrong. It is way way more difficult to perform there than say in Brazil with steady winds and especially flat water...

2) where was Hadlow? Is he alright yet?

Hats off to the competitors there, need some big balls to throw tricks. It's actually quite difficult in itself to just launch a really big jump against a wave like they did, timing should be really good.

sure, powerful wind. balls for those kiteloops for sure!

but...a nice stiffy, deadman, grab, grab rotation, boardoff rotation etc...just something than just flying high and waiting for the landing...I didn't see yet.
Waiting for the RB video, maybe things look different there.

Billy Parker was the closest to being level with his kite. Massive stall before he threw the loop. That's balls because you come is soooooo fast on the landing.

its funny how different people want to bend the comp to suit their own personal style. Toby wants to see more airstyle. others think the waves are waisted because they aren't being surfed. i'm sure theres dudes wanting to see it all done unhooked.

Me I want to see the biggest mother of all air followed by and insanely long glide , backed up by a completely in control pillowy soft landing.

In my own weird rule book if you crash land then the entire jump doesn't count. you didn't pull it off. So landing it smoothly rates very highly on my airmchair score card.

It would be interesting to see a comp going for max airtime in second. Not how high you jumped but how long you stayed in the air. That would be very interesting and black and white for results.

- no offence but doubt you'd even see one in the last KOTA and that was 8yrs ago...

wonder how many people on here have actually cranked a small kite on the way up a huge jump in over 30kts?

I agree.
These are the jumps I like- high, controlled and butter smooth landing.

Cheers

I straightened out the legs and rotated the torso. You have to figure there's a little bit of 'hunch' left in the body but the way i see that jump he's 50 feet from where he left the water to the underside of his board. That's big ass.
