Too many times I have seen things went wrong while looping (especially if never done before). Looping should be learned from scratch and not when jumping high. Just my 2 Cents. Enjoy your holiday mate. Cheers Caesar Not if you are on the way down. That is easy.

I always Downloop my landing on really big jumps and also I do it alot when I am riding smaller kites in higherwinds really controlls your speed and smooths out your landings!!!!

I like to do downloops with rotations...gives you a nice dynamic for the landing!

The best way to learn them is in transition jumps. You will have little to no board speed and the loop is thrown from the edge high and tight above you. This generates a more vertical pull and not a horizontal pull which softens landings. Downloop transitions usually carry more board speed and are really fun with a front roll.

Toby, I want to really understand this... So what your saying is, if you want to down loop it, then make sure the kite is behind you a bit? And if you want to heli loop, then start with the kite just a bit forward? Then the question becomes, what happens if you start the loop not in these positions? Thanks

if you watched all the king of the air you would realize far more important than learning how to smooth a landing is how to biff a landing without breaking every bone in your body.
If u c your kite is level with you and you are falling fast
1. If on a twintip kick the board off. make sure it goes behind you. dont land on your fins!
2. do not stretch out your legs, you can get a fracture if it's shallow. ball up and land butt first.
3. clench the sphincter or you enjoy a deep enema

I a not into mega kiteloop as I care about my long term health Like anything else you start slow and build from there. Thanks!

John-B wrote: Not too big this day but just donwloop your landings - very easy and you can also use it to do massive jump transitions DOWNLOOPS Nice video, it really shows how to perform the downloop. You can see on many jumps that the landing happens before the loop is even fully completed. Let's go and practice now.

This is interesting to me.
I know to land softly on a jump you re-direct the kite forwards. You can continue and complete the downloop.
Can someone explain the science of this to me?
It seems so counter intuitive - why does redirecting the kite forward and toward the water, give you lift?
