Hydro Foil almost done

Good advice.

We can't easily get stitched Carbon here, so we don't use it much.

Has anyone tried a high AR foil for racing?
less use ability due to stalling but would be a lot more efficient?

Yes there are HA foils. Two available to buy that I know of are:

Why do you say HA would have stalling issues? Does a HA wing normally have a higher stalling speed? Someone told me for the Makaira you need more speed to get up (hence higher stall speed assumed), but I though it was more to do with the amount of lift they put in the wing, so that at high speed you are not fighting to keep the wing down. I think they get up to 30 knots top speed on the Makaira? I can hardly get to 20 knots on my MHL Lift foil.

By stalling I mean that the higher the AR, the less your angle of attack can be, so they will be good in a straight line but if someone tried, say a jump, and they angled the foil up too much it would just slip.

I guess foil size will be a problem for that, the faster you go the more lift, and if you have to keep forcing the board down then you are making more drag.

I believe that the current foils will have to change drastically soon. they need to look towards other yachts. the racing foil class will change from foiling boards to kite powered foiling craft (my secret project in the process)

anyone know if the new foilboarding class will have any box rule or similar? no restrictions (= ?

Are you riding your Foilboard with straps or strapless?

I have found that when you are trying to go fast you can control the lift better if you move your front foot farther up the board. This is one of the reasons I prefer to ride strapless when going fast on a foil.

I am riding strapless, and yes it does help to move my front foot forward. I think it helps moving the back foot forward as well, but I am not too sure. I do not go fast too much because the wipeouts from a foil at almost 20 knots is worse than on a speed board at 35 knots (for me anyway). But I am getting better. I'll try moving my front foot even further forward and see how it helps.

Our foil "sword" actually reaches a speed of 34 knots, we develop new fins that will reach speeds of 39 knots

at 2:57 --- check out how the cavitation vortex travels down
the string , much the same way , (i suspect) that it travels down the
pylon which holds a Hydro-foil in place ?
