Just sold 2 RPMs after 1 year of kiting. They have some serious flaw in canopy design — trailing edge wear. In the end both kites had many small holes parallel to trailing edge, where black material ends. Had to put there some ripstop, so I could sell them.
Talked to few repair guys, that are riding RPMs and fixing them. This is the first part that breaks there. You have to check it ofter and sell kite when this part starts to fall into pieces.
Why SS can't reinforce this part with dacron? It could make these kites much durable. But no changes in 2013, only this black line of ripstop was made little bit bigger. Nothing close to other brands solid trailing edge with 10-20 cm of dacron.

DUDE, why do you buy slingshot gear, just so you can come on a forum and bash them?
You have two posts bashing their gear on page one.
You must be really hard on gear if you have issues with Slingy gear. My extensive experience, their gear is bomber.

danglerdog, you'd better continue posting to
MOST SEXY KITE PICTURE.
If their gear is bomber, why trailing edge is falling out from kite? Maybe you're more into girls, that into kiting?

So you left them flapping on the beach for a whole year before the TE wore out?
Or only part of the year?
Sounds like you got mileage from them.
I thought everybody knew not to leave the kite parked with TE flapping all day.
Or did you never leave the kites carelessly flapping,
and do it by doing like 10000 kiteloops in one year?
Maybe there is a prize for that....

I never leave kites on a beach flapping. Pump, kite few hours, get out, packed. I don't even make breaks between sessions — just big one and then home.
I kite a lot, so kites work hard during a year. But I have 3 of them, 2 had holes in trailing edge, 1 is still few months old.
This is not only my problem, other opinions:
1. Repair man when heard "trailing edge falling out" asked "do you ride RPM?" After he told its first part that is breaking in these kites.
2. Second repair man, riding RPMs too, told me he had same issue, so I have to sell it fast.
3. Another two instructor, riding RPMs for some time. Already reinforced their kites with 15cm ripstop on trailing edge, so it won't fall out.

Well ok sorry about my skepticism but ...still skeptical.
A buddy has rpms 3 years old, & not much wear.
I do have a fuel with a TE like that, but I bought it used from a "team rider" who probably only needed it for a few months and evidently didn't take great care of it.
The fuels I got new are doing fine -at least on the TE!

I had exactly the same issue on my Rally
That's why I moved to North, with strong wide dacron trailing edge
Nothing against SS at all.

gvironda, me either, love these products. I just don't get, why it can't be fixed.

Slingshot gear falls apart. It's not news.
Had fuels stitches open on each and every strut at the exact same place.
I emailed SS about the faulty design and even offered a new design that will solve the problem.
The next year they didn't change a thing. That's when i decided never again to buy anything from these clowns.
If you want your gear to last, and you are not one of those once a week lets go back and forth and just cruise around with our kites then stay away from SS.
