RRD K70 raceboard 2012 - comments?

Postby Dr_Rosen » Tue Feb 19, 2013 10:00 am

Can anyone comment on the K70.
I heard it should be a bit technical/difficult to ride?
How would it work as a freerace/lightwind board - Potentially maybe with a little reduced fin size to make it easier to ride or?

It's as technical as most other full race boards..

I have heard too many accounts of the boards cracking also, water getting in and the board becoming heavy and waterlogged.

As for smaller fins, these boards are designed to run on large fins to keep them flat, if you put too small fins on them the board will never quite get flat or even worse will have to be so powered up to get them flat the you lost the point of going out in light winds.

I ride a Temavento RC70 - The board is easy enough to just ride about but you will feel your legs start to burn when you really push it. Also getting downwind on a race board is harder than on a freerace board like the Sector.

Personally, if you want to get out in super light winds on a race type board, the Sector is the one to go for. The 66 will be close to a raceboard but it is designed to be ridden flat and on its edge. I had a go on one and loved it. If I had the money I would also have a Sector.

hope that helps a little.

Thanks !
I have tried the K65 (4 fin 2001 model) RRD and liked it a lot.
I also tried the K-Free60 which is also a nice board.

I didn't mean small fins, just slightly smaller :-)

Yes the sector is absolutely and a option, og the RRD K-Free 60. In that ball game I will have "access" to the new Best Kiaola.

It just seems to give another dimension on the 2true" raceboard as it foils more on the fins ....thus more challenging to ride.

personally I would go for a 3 fin board any day due to how much more friendly they are.

Faster off the wind and easier to turn (tack and gybe)

Are you saying there seem to be quality problems with the RRD K70 ?

I have heard from the only 2 people I know to use the 2012 board that both their boards leaked.

I have seen elsewhere that the boards have leaked.

A friend have one, he said is technical as Tone said, may be a little more than others.
It´s me or 2012 boards have leaking problems? (some board was know as "green sponge" )

Have a Aguera CR59 with 3 race fins (32centimeters) its technical too...but is my first raceboard so, for me is normal.
