Kite Story, reasons why we are in love with kiteboarding

Postby andrzej » Wed Feb 27, 2013 9:10 am

Together with my friend Dzik and guys from tristudio.pl, we are making series of short movies dedicated to kiteboarding. Plan is to show beauty of our sport, nature and spots suitable for kiting. Movies are beeing made just because of our passion, showing what do we love- water, sand and windy weather. We would like to share this series with you, and hear your feedback- positive or negative remarks will be usefull.
You can find more photos from our spots on FB page: http://www.facebook.com/KiteStory.

Newest production, straight from our homespot- Rewa:

There is nothing worse than another winter, which effectively discourages kiteboarders. Frozen waters and negative temperatures are not the best conditions for water sports enthusiasts. However, there are days so windy that we can not refrain from going down to the water. Here you can see short video from Rewa on 19.02.2013.

Part no 3 from Hel Pennisula, recorded during summer of 2012:

As the holiday period has come to a close also the summer kite season in Poland has ended. To keep these days in mind we created a clip showing the whole truth about the fitful summer wind we have longed for. The video was shot on a weekend in July during out trip around Puck county including the beaches of Wladyslawowo, Chalupy & Puck. It wasn't until day two, on the Hel peninsula, that we caught some suitable wind. We say farewell to the summer season without remorse as we go in for the truly windy fall.

Second part from beautifull, polish, sandy beach is Karwienskie Blota:

Which forecast is the best? Of course the one, which shows enough wind to kite. But what to do if all of them predict no wind? This was the problem that we had to deal with during one hot and windless Sunday. There was only one decision to make- we're heading for the coast in search of thermal wind. Here you can see a short video, shot on 20.05 on the beach in Karwieńskie Błota.

And first part from our hometown- Gdynia. You do not kite here a lot.

The first movie from the series presenting kitesurfing on the Polish coastline. Recorded on October the 10th 2011 during extraordinary wind conditions ESE enabling such a kite session.

I hope you like it, enjoy!

As the title suggests, my story of falling in love with kiteboarding:

I first saw kiteboarding in 1999 in Hawaii, months after I bought a 2 line stunt kite. I watched in amazement at the pure genius of a man pulled through the water by the very same natural force I had just discovered. At this time I had a son of 1 year old and no time or money to invest in this awe.

12 years later my son had become more independent and I ended a 9 year relationship leaving me with lots of time and no real sense of direction. At the same time a good friend introduced me to the sport and I knew right away this was what I wanted to follow. The freedom of flight, non competitive approach and progression, the new (mostly) conscious community it encompassed, opportunity of travel/exploration, and the positive, healthy, physical change I needed all came together and screamed at me.
Now I kite more than 200 days a year between BC, Canada and Mui Ne Vietnam and have involved my son In the passion as well. (he's studying to be a pilot) How many kiteboarder/ pilots do we know? :D
Perhaps I have a bit of OCD but I love it and can't imagine my life without wind, water, beach, like minded people, travel and the personal progression. It has become my lifestyle. I'm now 35 years old and love that I see people kiting well past 70 and 80. Looking forward to all these years.
Happy safe kiting. Get your OCD on!!!

Yo Flybykite,

Excellent job on the clips. You captured the lifestyle that we all love about the sport. So many videos miss the mark focusing only on the tricks.

Keep up the good work.
