I have not been to La Palma but live on Gran Canaria, one of the other Canary Islands. La Palma is a very rocky island and I cannot imagine it having any kite-friendly beaches. If your destination is chosen solely on the purpose of good kitesurfing you are much better off going to Fuerteventura (general and varied good conditions) or Gran Canaria (nuclear wind and heavy sailing). Fuerteventura is by far the most kite-friendly of the Canary Islands.

I'm going to La Palma this week (not for a kiting holiday, but hoping to get some in). I'm hoping someone out there might have a little more info. I see there is a facebook page (
https://www.facebook.com/LaPalmaKitesurfWindsurfSurf), but they seem to do a lot of trips to Tenerife. It also looks like waves and wind together are out of the question - is that correct?

Hi Cleepa,
All I have heard so far about this place, is that it is very rocky and not very friendly for kitesurfing.
Anyway - could you please drop some comments here about your experience when u are back ?
Try place Tazacote. It might be the one.
Cheers,
czezz

La Palma under normal trade wind conditions (N.E.) does not have any good spots, Tazacorte normally is in the lee of the island so no wind, Santa Cruz can be windy but very gusty and nowhere to get in the water.
I live in Tenerife and this is where you want to be although this time of year is know for its calm weather! Forecast is looking good from Saturday on.

I didn't kite in the end. The only places to kite are on the east of the island and the only place to rent a board is on the west. It was too much hassle for a holiday that was for spending time with my family! So, I have no solid information beyond what I think would work and what I dug up online.
