Here is the twitter-feed of VAKE events

Unfortunately you can learn that "team Vindkraft" GPS logger is not working. So they are leading the competition but you cannot see them on the map.

This race looks wild! Great interactive website.
Makes a 5-hour 50 mile snowkite session sound like chump change-

The fight for place 2-4 was intense. I understood from Twitter that almost 99% of the race the second place holder "Utsete" was out on 40m lines and 15m kite at winds of 15m/s (30 knots) and they need to change kites as last leg was high upwind and they could not do it. Kinetic Warriors (UK) and Ragnar&Stein was chasing them hard. I understood that KW was also on 15m kites and R&S was on 9m.

Final straigh from turning point, R&S was leading for second place and going slow upwind without changing tacks. KW according to track changed tacks when going upwind and they blasted past close to finishing line leaving 33s time difference after 50 hours of racing. Utsete came 4th because of the kite change.

I think it was a thrill to look at Twitter & GPS updates, how is it going to end :)

And the event still continues another 13 hours on Friday. At time of writing this 14 teams completed the journey.

Glad you enjoy following the competition online.

Yes it was a thriller for the 2 and 3 place! Imagine a 33 sec time difference after three days of kiting (I talked to one of the teams; they had clocked a distance of 354 km!).

A total of 16 teams out of 41 finished the race.

Registration for VAKE 2014 opens in November :)
