North Jaime which Size? Please help!

Postby bmencer » Sat Apr 13, 2013 9:41 pm

Hey Gang

Sorry for the multiple post in the past couple of days.....

I decided to purchase a 2012 North Jaime. I have a dealer trying to sell me a 133x40. I was thinking I should be riding a 136x41. I am a beginner/intermediate ridder who can ride upwind. I weigh in at 165-170. I am ridding a 12m Switchblade. Can someone please give me some feedback? I feel like the dealer is trying to sell what he has and may not be best for me. I look to you guys for good advice!

i been riding jamie 132 at 200 pounds, though I might move up to a 136 or 140 this year and switch to boots. the jamie doesn't have a ton of rocker so it's pretty good going upwind. You'll be fine with both the 133 and the 136 either size is fine. Personally at your weight I would probably get the 133 make that my go-to board, and add another board, like a 145 or even 150 for light wind days.

Is there a benefit to riding the 136? Is the extra cm going to help me in the low end at all? Sorry I am relatively new and hate to buy a board only to realize that in the lower wind range it's not feasible to use

the bigger the board the better it is in light wind. How light wind are you aiming for? I would say that the 136 will let you ride in 14 knots, while the 133 might let you ride in 13 knots. But a spleene door or surfboard would let you ride in 10 knots.

I have a firewire sweet potato I was think of using for the low end but was hoping to be able to ride 13 plus with this board. Would I want to shoot for the 136 then? Did you mean 13 for 136 and 14 for 133
