Fuel 2013 depower line problem

Postby AlexandreBorges » Mon Apr 15, 2013 2:46 pm

I sent an email to slingshot and I'm waiting them to reply.

I'd like to understand that what happened and if somebody had such problem with this depower line.
I bought this Fuel 2013 and never tested it to full power since wind season was over. I pulled this depower line once and last weekend when I finished kiting I saw it was almost cut. It was normaly attached to its attachement point.

I imagine maybe the plastic handling piece hanging caused the line to wear against the plastic teeth that hold it.

I heard from a friend it looks like Naish bar problems in past. Since this is my first slingshot kite I have no clue and would not like to replace it and see it coming again.

I have no idea how that could have happened. I have been Fuels for 2 years and I don't have any wear like that. Looks like it got cut some how.

Wondering if you might be letting the rope all the way out and not using the cleat to hold it. I could see how the force and the angle that the rope has to contend with would wear it or cut it against the plastic.

It looks like maybe someone trimmed the plastic tube with a razor knife after it was installed on the depower rope. Or what Joe said... ?
The fibers of the rope look sharply cut.

It was attached to the proper place. Took it off to take that picture.
It 's really a new kite, bought in November with max. 5 hours of use.

Well, the main problem of buying a kite abroad is that the local representative of your country won't give you a new part for free, still it is a Slingshot product...

1/4 spectra is all you need to replace it. Should be able to get it any marine store. I have used it too modify one of my bars to above the bar trim. It is way cheaper than paying for a replacement especially if your out of the country.
