I looked through their instruction videos...

Turns out the thing cannot be submerged, then the engine floods and you have to clean all the water out before you can start it. The hole where the cables come out for controlling is not sealed, so water rush in if the board is submerged.

Thats sounds wonderful after going through the washing machine and then not being able to start again. Great as a floating device too! haha

You'd think they would put a secondary valve inside the inlet to catch any water coming in and stop it. All that technology and it floods if you sit on it wrong. :roll:

While we're at it,, spraying it before and after use with WD40? Nothing like the smell of oily spray shit to make you feel you've had a nice day at the beach.

Engine powered boards...nice toy but IMO, 100% potential risk of riots on the line up, same as when jetsky were introduced.

Fortunately in Canada windsurfers and kiteboarders are given a special exemption to the following rules because we are not powered by a gas burning engine... Below is some of the required equipment you would have to carry on these vessels if they are considered a personal water craft... which imho they most certainly would be...
A sound-signaling device;
A watertight flashlight or three flares other than smoke signals;
A magnetic compass, if the PWC is navigated outside of seamarks
A Canadian-approved personal flotation device or lifejacket of appropriate size for each person on board
A buoyant heaving line at least than 15 m (49’3”) long
An anchor and at least 15 m (49’3”) of cable, rope or chain in any combination
A bailer
A 5BC fire extinguisher if the pleasure craft is equipped with an inboard engine

See now a video with all that gear on a powered surf board would just be funny.

The thought of a bunch of morons handling gas cans on the beach filling their boards makes me cringe. Imagine these geniuses then zipping through swimmers, surfers and kiters to join forces with herds of jet skiers?
Listen to the kid in the video is like ... like it is like ...well like it is what to expect!? So, he can't even put one comprehensive together, but we offer him a rocket board - sweeeell

Then .. like ...I ran out of gas ...duuude, that was scary .. like .. didn't know what happen next .. but..like the lifeguards picked me up - so awwwesome maan - like a dream ...

Maybe I am just having a bad dream with these boards, but ... like ... I said, I don't have much faith in our general water population. :D

peace

I could not agree anymore about the gas issue around the beach, but to be honest I think that we are experiencing the same feeling windsurfers felt when kitesurf first showed up. I love kitesurfing and wouldnt change it for anything though.
