KAP with 30 inch kite

Postby gpierson » Tue Apr 23, 2013 5:46 pm

Hi newbie here...(not sure if I'm in the right forum...is there a KAP forum I should be posting in?)

Can anyone advise me...I've got a about a 30" kite with support (typical looking diamond shape kite). It flys well in 10 - 16 mph wind. Does anyone know if this would support a Go Pro Hero 2 for aerial photography?

If it's possible, I wanted to try this before I buy a large (60" or more?) kite.

Thanks in advance!
Gene

Sorry...correction. Not diamond shaped. Triangle shaped (like this attached only smaller)

KAP = kite aerial photography?
Given enough wind and strong line that kite would do. But why not get a 4-liner you could steer for the perfect pic?

why would he spend $250-$1000 for a control bar, lines, safety system, etc when $50 and one line will do

Not my thing but hey he likes it.

I looked into KAP a bit and it seems like the kites you would use for that are a little more heavy duty and possibly have a little more drag so they can really hold the power in the canopy, giving it something to pull against rather than the camera weighing it down. I don't think a typical little kite like that is strong enough.

You want a box kite or something similar for KAP, something very stable and dependable.
