chinese fins

Postby darippah » Thu Apr 25, 2013 1:57 am

any thoughts on these fins? any good reason to get originals?

pretty cheap, and can't imagine you lose much performance for 1/4 the price

just bought 1.5" and 2 " i'll post back when I get them

Don't know about the fins, meaning the difference, I couldn't tell between my original fins and these, but I suspect that the originals were the same crap anyways. I abused these and they were good, I sold the board with them. Good quality.

But this guy Hank, is super cool, a real pleasure to deal with. I order a set, and never got them, he asked to refund or resend, I needed them, so I asked him to resend, and it was all gravy.

i have a couple of these fins, always get them in orange so i can see them, good product, i actually tried making my own fins using fiberglass and resin, so i would test the durability of them against the polycarbonate fins by taking a hammer to it, those poly fins really can be nailed into a block of wood like the video they have in their website so no question on product quality

even cut one with a jig saw, didn't crack or nothing, just cut right through, sanded it and foiled it smaller, can't beat the price, however i wish they had more shapes such as a long ramp fin

polycarbonate wouldn't be good as a long skinny racing fin though, thats when g10 is better, but no worries on the twin fins they sell

Two thumbs up for Hank.

I have some of these fins on project boards, I also have the foot pads and straps. All good. Hank is a straight up guy and shipping is usually about one week from Taiwan.

Also, his boards are pretty good.

Wow! That is a good deal. Is the hole spacing for the fin screws the same for all boards?

The little plastic washer that come for the top side of the board are crap and split when you tighten, but the fins are OK.
ALthough they would be better with 1/4 threads like most others.

And the foot pads are good :thumb:

I can't say much for their fins, but I can comment that their food is dynamite.

Hope this helps!
