I'm sure there has been threads on here before that address this question but I can't seem to find them.
I'm from California and looking to find a cheap vacation to take my non kiting girlfriend with me. I don't want to do maui because I'm looking to go during the summer. Save maui for November waves.
Been to the Dominican republic before and it was OK...crowded..
Aruba is an option. I like that the spot is right near the hotel. Sketchy 10AM to 5PM rules and gusty winds concern me.
Rest of carribean probably won't blow during the summer. Any other ideas?

try Cuba (is cheap). Im from there and I can tell you there are no rules. Don't know about wind though. But there are some kiters around here that can tell you about conditions and spots.

How about San Andres, Colombia, I've been hearing some really interesting things about Colombia for kiting, and yes it's safe.
Sand Andres is a hot tourist spot for a lot of Colombians, and not a lot of foreigners, for what I understand very few local kiters, and not crowded at all, kite without rules kinda place.
It's cheap and looks absolutely stunning.
Good luck.

Barbados, silver sands area, if flights don't kill your budget? cheap if you use public transport to get around and eat in the local places not the touristy places. or u can probably find a cheap apartment with full kitchen and cook. (supermarket isn't that cheap though). but rum is

Maui wind is great in the summer. Just go to maui in the summer and then go again in the winter.
Costa rica is windy in the winter and has surf in the winter (dec-apr), so maybe maui in the summer and costa rica in the winter.
some of it depends on how she likes to travel. If she is an adventure tourist then there are lots places. If she wants it to be nice, then just stick with maui.

Where specifically in CR for surf and wind?
I've gone to the DR this spring and last with my buddy and our non-kitesurfing wives and everyone has been very happy.

Wouldn't it be better to get yourself a "kiting girlfriend" and hence increase your destination options tenfold?
From a purely statistical perspective, there are more available girls than there are good kiting destinations.
I would recommend Greece.
