Patent claims on QR???

Postby kitesafe1 » Fri Apr 26, 2013 11:49 am

A device for coupling a pair of kite lines to a kite harness loop has a first releasable coupling rotatably attached to the harness loop for securing a first kite line to the harness loop and a second releasable coupling rotatably attached to the harness loop for securing a second kite line to the harness loop. The first and second couplings are rotatable about a common axis. An attachment point for a third line is provided. The attachment point is also rotatable about the common axis.

Its Cabrinha. OP was there a problem?

If you think this is already invented you should probably say to to USPTO, but I htink this builds on their landing system...

It's patented because (among it's many features) its the ONLY system on the market that has independently spinning front lines, rear lines, landing line, and leash line.

Seems to be more focused on a two step release system...but it is almost unreadable :)

What is important in the patent is the claim section. The rest is the BS in terms of patent.

The claims are in priority/importance order. So lower number claims just explain/describe claim 1. So is claim 1 unique?
1. A device for coupling a pair of kite lines to a kite harness loop, the device comprising:

a first releasable coupling rotatably attached to the kite harness loop for securing a first kite line to the kite harness loop; and

a second releasable coupling rotatably attached to the kite harness loop for securing a second kite line to the kite harness loop, wherein the first and second couplings are rotatable about a common axis.

2. The device of claim 1 wherein the first and second couplings are independently releasable.

3. The device of claim 1 wherein the first coupling has a first handle movable in a first direction, away from the loop, for releasing the first coupling, and a second handle moveable in a second direction, opposite to the first direction, for releasing the second coupling.

4. The device of claim 3 wherein the first handle blocks the second coupling such that the first coupling must be released before the second coupling can be released.

5. The device of claim 3 wherein the first handle is movable axially on the common axis in the first direction and the second handle is movable axially on the common axis in the second direction.

6. The device of claim 1 including a coupling body rotatably attached to the kite harness loop, wherein the first and second couplings are located on the coupling body.

7. The device of claim 1 wherein one of the first and second couplings is a pelican hook for securing a kite line and the pelican hook opens in response to one of pushing and pulling of a release handle.

8. The device of claim 1 wherein the first kite line is a kite depower line and the second kite line is a kite landing line.

9. The device of claim 1 further including an attachment point for a third line, the attachment point being rotatable about the common axis.

10. The device of claim 9 further including a coupling body rotatably attached to the kite harness loop, wherein the attachment point for a third line comprises an attachment member rotatably attached to the kite harness loop.

11. The device of claim 9 wherein the attachment point for a third line is provided for attaching a kite control system to a harness via a leash.

12. A kite control system comprising:

a harness loop,

a control bar,

a pair of kite lines, and

a device for coupling the pair of kite lines to the harness loop, wherein the device for coupling comprises

a first releasable coupling rotatably attached to the harness loop for securing a first kite line to the harness loop, and

a second releasable coupling rotatably attached to the harness loop for securing a second kite line to the harness loop, and the first and second couplings are rotatable about a common axis.

13. A kite attachment system comprising:

a harness loop,

a releasable coupling for releasably attaching the harness loop to a traction line of a kite, and

a leash attachment, wherein the leash attachment and releasable coupling are rotatable with the harness loop, about a common axis.

14. The kite attachment system of claim 13 wherein the releasable coupling comprises:

a first releasable coupling rotatably attached to the harness loop for securing a first kite line to the harness loop; and

a second releasable coupling rotatably attached to the harness loop for securing a second kite line to the harness loop, wherein the first and second couplings are rotatable about a common axis.

15. The kite attachment system of claim 14 further compromising a first handle movable in a first direction, away from the loop, for releasing the first coupling, and a second handle moveable in a second direction, opposite to the first direction, for releasing the second coupling.

16. The kite attachment system of claim 15 wherein the first handle blocks the second coupling such that the first coupling must be released before the second coupling can be released.

17. A kite attachment system comprising:

a kite harness loop defining a longitudinal axis between a rider and a kite, and

a leash attachment point for a kite leash that secures a kite to a harness of the rider, wherein the leash attachment point is rotatable, located with the harness loop, and is rotatable about the longitudinal axis.

Well claim 1 is definitely not unique. The question is....are the following claims further specifying claim 1 or just generally describing. I think the first...so then it should not be a problem...but I don't know.
