When I began to walk up the front line, the kite relaunched and powered up. On the second try the kite still did not flag, but I was able to pull on the front line walking in a different direction to get the kite to flip over. Was kinda nerve racking in high winds.

I haven't tried the IDS on my 10m yet but I hope its not the same issue.
Might be worth looking at the video on page 2.
It shows a trick for getting it to flag out onto its back.

Also, if I get the chance to drop the kite onto the water, I always drop my Crossbows to the side of the window and they flip over into the parked position as they drift downwind. I always go up both front lines to the kite once it has flagged out.

ok, maybe i am not getting this but it is a QR system that you need to learn tricks to make work properly?
really? sounds over-engineered and over=complicated to me.
the kites may be good but if the safety system is not easily safe, wtf?
there are lots of other systems out there that work well without the drama...

The problem with reassembly of the Q/R only relates to 2012 bars.

The flipping onto its back thing is to do with the shape of the kite and only applies to some models and maybe sizes within that model.
Kites with a flatter/straighter leading edge would be more prone to not drop on their backs. Kites with a curved more Delta shaped LE should flag onto their backs well.
My Crossbows always drop on their backs.

I agree that if you make IDS kites, they should all flag out automatically - not just the vast majority of them.
