Maui Blues

Postby Kitego » Tue May 07, 2013 1:00 am

Is it me reading the Windguru wind stats wrong or it has been a bad couple weeks at Kitebeach in Maui?

This winter has sucked... I haven't been in the water in weeks but then I only get a couple days off a week. Not sure if the Konas were strong enough for Kihei...

I am currently here...Kona winds were good on Sat for Kihea, Sunday not so sure as I wasn't able to get out. Yesterday was the first day of no wind.
Even though the Windguru graph showed crap winds all week, there has been some decent kiting. I would ignore the graph as anything can happen from day to day as long as you have a good quiver of kites.

newbie here, but looks like you can add 3-5 knts to the wguru history at least recently.
may 1: rode 6m in 20+ knts (15 avg listed on wguru)
may 2: 6m 15+ knts (12 avg wg)
may 3: 9m in 12-15 knts (10 - 7 avg wg)

looks like may '09 trades were late arriving, hope not again this year.
plenty of other activities and sights here, so all good! :)

missed the Kona winds. Dafish, where is best to launch in Kihei (Maalaea)? mudflats?

Which windguru model to check for better Maui forecast precision, NAM 3Km, HRW 5 Km or GFS?
