I've gone and come back to Brazil, and it was incredible!
Thank you everyone a ton for your advice.
Here's what I ended up doing:
3 days in Rio to see the typical sights
5 nights in Cumbuco (Duro Beach)
5 nights in Rede Beach
1 more night in Cumbuco on the way back to Fortaleza (Windtown)
First in Duro Beach, it was a perfect start.
Very affordable, comfortable and kited everyday with downwinders to the lagoon and waves at Pecem. Duro beach is the perfect location with some of the best kiting right out front. It was great kiting with some top guys, really pushed me to try some new stuff and started landing my back mobes consistent, felt great. My wife was comfy and had no complaints chillin in the pool reading her book. Restaurants in town are good. I wouldn't say outstanding, but nice to have some variety.
Next, Rede beach was perfect!! Much nicer, more comfortable resort than Duro Beach. Very quiet, and the staff were great! The kite service was amazing there as well. Always someone watching you to launch/catch your kite and making sure your ok. Compressor and lockers on the beach, grassy packing area, everything you could ask for. Restaurant was also very good, but be sure to try the lobster in the village. Fun waves on high tide and flat water on low tide. Perfect place. HIGHLY recommend.
Then spent 1 night and day at windtown on the way back in Fortaleza. This place is a little nicer than Duro beach, but the location isn't as good. It's a little rougher shore break with some messy waves outside with no flat water and its also about a 10 minute walk into town to the restaurants. It's a nicer more comfortable resort, but the location and price of Duro beach makes it a better place to stay.
GREAT vacation, would love to do it again.
