Cape Hatteras accomodation

Postby poshnbex » Fri May 10, 2013 12:56 pm

Hi does anyone know of accomodation in Cape Hatteras which
a) is close to the kitespots
b) is one bedroom only, i.e. for myself and my partner, rather than a full house
c) rents for periods which do not start and end on a weekend, and possibly for 10 days rather than only a full one or two weeks
d) is nice and fairly priced???

Thanks! We are looking to go from around 24 June to 3 or 4 July.

Not sure about any one room rentals, all the houses are huge with like 10 rooms. I'd check out Watermans Retreat, it's the closest but still two bedrooms.

That is crap. There are tons of 2-4 bedroom places. There are a plenty of hotels/motels in Buxton not too many in the tri-villages or Avon. Google hotels/motels Buxton.

Lighhouse View Oceanfront Lodging in Buxton.

http://www.lighthouseview.com/

It's a 5 minute drive to Kite Point.
Less than five to the Lighthouse..

They have a studio efficiency with a small kitchen.

Highly recommended. Though I don't know about the summer availability..

There are some many options... google search is your best friend for that!

If you look hard you will find something but nothing in America is "fairly priced" the week of July 4th. You picked the most expensive week and the most booked week of the year to go to Hatteras. It is usually a great week for wind though! Good luck and let us know what you find.

If you don't need an actual house, the camp sites are pretty cheap and have good facilities. I stayed there for 10 days last summer at Ocean Waves Campground, perfect location, walking distance to kiting and was cheap.

it's difficult to find motels unless you don't mind being farther away, it's really a place you want to visit with a few friends for a decent amount of time

Hi, thanks. I did try google of course, otherwise I wouldn't have posted on Kiteforum! Just wondering if anyone had any insider tips. It would appear not. I guess it's just one of those places where it's best to go with a group of people. I have written to a few motels, will let you know if I find anything.

It's a matter of logistics. I guess it depends on where you kite. Look at "Kite Point" for example. No place to stay that is really close and within walking distance.

I stayed here for a couple nights when I was getting some lessons. Seems like it was around $100/night:

I later stayed here for a couple nights for about the same price:

Look north up that road a ways where the land gets thin. No place to stay.

You want to stay in a house or a motel room?
