Brazil, Where to stay and Kite??

Postby colinirwin » Fri May 10, 2013 10:18 pm

Hey all

So I am heading to Brazil for 2ish weeks in June. I will fly into Fortaleza in Ceara and I will probably head north, anywhere between Cumbuco and Jercoacoara.
Any advice on places to stay or good flat water spots would be great.
Thanks

Too many to list!

Cumbuco has many nice places and two lagoons close by.

Taiba is nice too if the lagoon has enough water, otherwise nice waves.

Paracuru is great, flat and wave, depending on tide.

Ilha do Guajiru has flat water and several places to stay.

Have a great trip!

Lots of places to ride no doubt just be prepared to spend a few dollars getting to them, in other words if your on a budget choose a few spots to go to and plan out how your going to get there in advance. A lot of the places we went required buggy transport and that added up! And the public transport is based out of Forteleza and as far as we could figure the only way to get most places is by taking the bus from fort. otherwise the only option i was able to find was taxi which gets pricey! For example for us to get from Peracuru to jeri cost us $200 (taxi ride) because we didnt want to have to go all the way back to forteleza and take the bus. At least that was my experience from this winter when i was in that area for a month. If your renting a car then you can go more places but then of course you can't get it to jeri in which case you have to pay for the car while its sits there.... I have a lot of opinions about that area but either way there is plenty! of wind and its a beautiful and fun place. I would have to say Peracuru was my favorite but we only ended up going to a handfull of spots. If you go to jeri try to get to get to Guriú, its a river mouth a ways north and at mid tide its an amazing spot! And theres one particular truck that rides out there daily with a bunch of students and its much cheaper then taking the buggy ride, you could try and contact them via reservajeribus@gmail.com but otherwise i dont know how you would find them. Oh and when we were there pre-rain season cauipe lagoon (the popular one near cumbuco) was really low. So there ya have it, thats my input have fun bro!
